Linda + Marcel | Sugarloaf Rock

Linda + Marcel’s destination elopement at Sugarloaf Rock.

When I first spoke with Linda + Marcel they were super laid-back with their wedding plans – they just wanted somewhere spectacular and adventurous for their elopement. It would just be the two of them and they were happy to be guided somewhere special in the south west.

Linda + Marcel had already been engaged for three years and each time they went away they’d research the logistics of getting married overseas and whether their wedding would be recognised in at home Germany. They flew in for a road trip in Western Australia, and kicked things off by eloping at the start of their holiday.

As a photographer it’s pretty exciting because I got to choose somewhere that will look killer. I also wanted to give them a epic experience – it’s almost like being a tour guide as well as a photographer, and I love taking people to some of my favourite places down here. It was kind of stressful too – the strong winds that were forecast were making things tricky and I didn’t want to choose the wrong spot and blow it for them.

Both of them were keen travellers and had already explored a lot of Australia, but Dunsborough and the south west was new to them.

We drove out to Sugarloaf Rock and scrambled down a steep rocky track to a secluded little beach that was out of the wind. Their ceremony was touching, emotional and just perfect.
Huge thanks to Caz Copeman from Margaret River Elopements for her amazing work coordinating the day and for being their wedding celebrant too.
Man I just love weddings like these.
