Caitlin + Sara | Perth

Caitlin + Sara | Perth

A slightly quirky photo session in the city with Caitlin + Sara.

Caitlin and Sara’s original plan was for a forest wedding at Stonebarn in Pemberton, but all sorts of fun COVID travel restrictions nixed their wedding plans.

They decided to have a very small and casual wedding ceremony instead, and a week later we met up for a photo session.

We hit up some retro spaces in the city, tweaked out some shapes and leading lines.

Hollie + Lewis | Eagle Bay

Hollie + Lewis | Eagle Bay

Hollie + Lewis’ beach wedding at Eagle Bay.

Hollie + Lewis got ready next door to each other, walked to their ceremony on the sand, hung out with everyone afterwards, and partied back at the beach house. I don’t think they moved more than 200m all day.

Pretty much the perfect recipe for a great party.

For sure it helps when your close family friends have a house right on the beach at Eagle Bay – their ceremony was directly in front of a private path through the dunes.

Drinks on the beach, party tunes, and relaxed vibes made for a killer afternoon.

And their Boston Terrier, Norman, cruised around all afternoon and probably got more photos than anyone else.

A mad dance floor kicked off early and was heaving even before the speeches had started. Lewis’ little bro Keenan and his mate Jack slayed it with big disco beats and party tunes. Hollie’s dad got a bit excited and put together a custom photo booth, which was pretty much an outdoor studio – complete with custom neon sign, beach sand and a friend’s Kombi too.

Lewis’ mum and Hollie’s nan handprinted dried flowers for the bouquets and decorations, and there was colour popping everywhere, especially the streamers hanging over the dance floor.

Yallingup Event Hire nailed the styling, and their new boat bar with customised signage was a killer touch. Supper Road delivered top notch eats as always.

And there was a very tender moment when everyone cleared the dance floor for Hollie’s grandparents – they never got to have a first dance at their wedding all those years ago, and they had one very sweet and touching dance.

Good times!

Roisin + Tane | Berry Delightful

Roisin + Tane | Berry Delightful

Party good times at Roisin + Tane’s festival wedding.

I don’t even know where to start describing this epic day.

Roisin’s family hosted this rollicking festival wedding at their home – The Berry Delightful – just outside of Donnybrook. A sprawling property with gardens, a stage, dams, camping, glamping… and the most beautifully warm and welcoming people.

Everyone arrived early, setting up and camping along the edges of the dam. Which also was the perfect spot for a refreshing dip and an after party the day after the wedding too.

Roisin wore a blue Rue de Seine dress. I’ve always wanted to photograph a wedding with a bride who doesn’t wear white. With cowgirl boots and rocking a headband adorned with and stars, she looked badass.

Tane wore an incredible kakahu – a Maori ceremonial coat, woven with feathers by his grandmother. Around his neck hung a whalebone pendant, set with paua (abalone) shell and carved by his grandfather.

A Gaelic poem from Roisin’s grandfather at the ceremony, and an incredible reading from Tane’s mum.

Deep celestial vows with moons and oceans and stars and time colliding… things got deep and then the dance floor went real late.

Kym + Gav | Manjimup

Kymberlee + Gav | Manjimup

Kymberlee + Gav’s family farm wedding in Manjimup.

Farm weddings are always such a mad party. Which is exactly the way a big wedding celebration should be.

I arrived early in the morning to meet Gav’s family and scout the farm. The garden was a lush oasis surrounded by dry paddocks in the middle of summer. Kym + Gav’s parents had been transforming the garden with weekends devoted to planting in the months leading up to the big day.

And I may or may not have spent too much time admiring the impeccable lawn while Gav’s dad showed me his robotic lawn mower- amazing!

Kym is an event planner at Crown in Perth, and she created something quite magic for her own wedding. An incredible floral arrangement was being installed by Signature Floral Design and the marquee from Cape Events was looking top notch.

Kym + Gav’s ceremony took place under a magnificent oak tree, cocktails flowed and Paige Valentine was heavenly as always with a live acoustic set.

We hit a nearby forest for photos, and when we arrived Gav mentioned that he’d been riding dirt bikes through this exact spot since he was a kid. A few photos in the lower paddocks on the farm, and then it was time to party!

Our Favourites | 2020

Each year we compile some of our favourite photos into a blog post. If you’re looking for a wedding photographer, this is probably the best place for you to get an idea of the kind of images we like to shoot.

In 2020 we photographed 39 weddings –  a mix of adventure elopements, smaller weddings and big mad parties.

Something that we really love are elopements – it has been amazing to work with couples who trust us to help plan their day. Working hand in hand with some awesome celebrants it was exciting to create something really unique for couples who wanted to do something quite different for their weddings.

We throw everything we have into every single wedding we shoot, and we are truly grateful to every couple that puts their trust in us.

If you’re looking for a wedding photographer and like the look of what we do – we’d love to chat with you more about your day and create something killer for you too.

Hannah + Joan | Boranup + Backyard Wedding

Hannah + Joan | Boranup Wedding + Backyard Reception

Backyard weddings are cool. And when your parents actually built the whole house themselves, that’s another level of awesome.

Hannah + Joan’s laidback forest wedding had a lot of DIY vibes. Family helped them construct their arbour, and they were stripping bark off the tree trunks in the days leading up to their wedding.

Biodegradable confetti was made from hole-punching a heap of leaves. Joan’s bro set-up an awesome bar in the forest for their ceremony – Hannah + Joan live in Broome and originally planned to get married there, so of course they had a heap of Matso’s ginger beer, which was perfect on a hot summer afternoon.

Hannah and Joan arrived in their Hilux ute together, a sister and cousin sung a song as they signed their marriage certificate, and everyone was pitching in behind the scenes to make the party extra awesome.

And when Joan swallowed a fly midway through the ceremony – it was good thing everyone had drinks in their hand and someone could hand her a champagne 🙂

Hannah’s dad worked in Boranup Forest for years, and one of his ranger mates rocked up at the end of the ceremony to check on proceedings and and say hi.

Best of all, it was just a lovely, happy and fuss free wedding. I know a ton of work went into everything behind the scenes, and it was so great watching everyone hang out, celebrate and head back to a family home for a big party after the ceremony – I love weddings like these.

Bec + Leigh | Meelup Farmhouse Wedding

Bec and Leigh’s wedding at Meelup Farmhouse was what all weddings should be like.

Family and friends brought the crazy good vibes. Bec and Leigh were super relaxed and just wanted to celebrate and party with everyone. Music pumped all day – Bec was dancing even before she got into her wedding dress.

Leigh’s aunt Di is a celebrant and married them on the lawn overlooking Meelup Brook. It was very touching to see how close their families were. Likewise for their wedding party who were so pumped for them. It’s wonderful to be surrounded by such positive energy from everyone.

A mad dance floor cranked under a giant tipi covered in festoon lights – such a great party.

And I’ve got to mention Meelup Farmhouse – they absolutely nailed it. The venue was perfect, the food was epic, but really it was the service that set it apart and it was great to work with such an ace team.

Lanie + Cam | Boranup Elopement

Lanie + Cam’s elopement in Boranup Forest.

Although the forest is huge, there’s a hidden little clearing that is one of my favourite spots for ceremonies. Turn off a gravel road and head down a narrow track a little bit deeper into the forest…

It’s always cool to see the look on couples’ faces as they wonder where on earth they are heading, before this magic clearing reveals itself.

The quiet of a smaller elopement is amazing, and a more relaxed pace means you can notice little details – the soft wind through the trees and the chirping of birds in the forest.

And if you get a touch of haze in the air, like Lanie + Cam did, there’s an epic golden light that filters through the trees.

We drifted out to the coast, through a moonscape of rocks at sunset.

Erin + Luke | Yallingup

Erin + Luke | Yallingup

Erin + Luke’s winter elopement in the bush “backyard” of a holiday home in Yallingup.

With just their two mums as witnesses, it was an incredibly emotional ceremony with a relaxed vibe that was exactly them.

It was simple, stripped back and perfect.

Erin + Luke had originally planned an autumn wedding, were forced to reschedule for next summer and then just wanted to commit and get freaking married!

It was an absolute joy to be a part of their day, and to see two awesome people so happy together.

Alex + Pete | Dunsborough

Alex + Pete | Dunsborough

Arvo wanderings with Alex + Pete. A few beers, bumbling around some different spots in Dunsborough together.

It was fun creating something different and hitting a bunch of locations I’ve had my eye on for a while.

I just really love taking photos.
